The Kill Tally
There are currently 92 boxes on the hill. Each box contains two 'DOC 150' or 'DOC 200' instant kill traps. They are aimed at stoats, ferrets and weasels, but will also kill rats and hedgehogs. The first of the traps was set on 30.10.08.

Large female stoat caught on 8.11.08, the official opening of          the trapping programme.
The average stoat weighs under 350 grams, the biggest one we've killed so far weighed in at 420g.
 
 
The above picture was taken on the phone of a trap checker who discovered 4 weasels in the trap box. You can see two in the nearest trap, one in the other trap and a live one happily hopping around on top of his deceased comrades. Go trap 50!

Possum traps are now out too, so far we've got 181! They are killing away while we sleep. The number of traps will increase as we extend the trapping network. Traps are currently spaced at 100m intervals along tracks in the glory forest which are 100m apart.
